This " report..is. an attempt to define the interrogation scheduling.proble " rn which arises ill the implementation of the discrete address beacon idea. The interfaces of this problem) with other parts of the beacons ystern. design are discussed, and several specifiti algorithms for scheduling are analyzed for both arrays and rotating antennas. INTRODUCTION The FAA is currently undertaking the development of a new surveillance system, the Discrete Address Beacon System (DABS), which will complement the introduction of automation in air traffic control to form the so-called upgraded third generation system. The basic system concept was spelled out in the ATCAC Report [ 11, whichrecommendedits development, and a detailed discussion of the system and its planned development may be found in the FAA Technical Development Plan [2] for DABS. The basic idea, which gives DABS its name, is to assign to each aircraft a unique code, and to direct all interrogations to a given aircraft by using that aircraft's unique address. Each aircraft is interrogated in turn, and responds only to interrogations containing its address. This scheme provides the mechanism for eliminating overlapping replies from targets close in range, by scheduling interrogations in time so that the replies do not overlap, and at the same time establishes a data-liti between aircraft and the ground which can be used for traffic control purposes. The interrogation scheduling problem itself is the subject of this note, in which we attempt to define the problem, discuss some specific algorithms, and study their capacity in terms of the number of tar gets a DABS can handle. In the following sections we give a brief discussion of the DABS system concept, which provides the background for the interrogation scheduling problem, and then discuss the schedtiling problem in general terms, with emphasis on its interaction with other elements of the DABS system design, such as surveillance and communication requirements , …

Optimality of the flexible job shop scheduling system based on Gravitational Search Algorithm
The Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) is one of the most general and difficult of all traditional scheduling problems. The Flexible Job Shop Problem (FJSP) is an extension of the classical job shop scheduling problem which allows an operation to be processed by any machine from a given set. The problem is to assign each operation to a machine and to order the operations on the machine...

متن کاملReal-time Scheduling of a Flexible Manufacturing System using a Two-phase Machine Learning Algorithm
The static and analytic scheduling approach is very difficult to follow and is not always applicable in real-time. Most of the scheduling algorithms are designed to be established in offline environment. However, we are challenged with three characteristics in real cases: First, problem data of jobs are not known in advance. Second, most of the shop’s parameters tend to be stochastic. Third, th...
متن کاملSuperframe Scheduling with Beacon Enable Mode in Wireless Industrial Networks
In this paper, we develop a method to check the schedulability superframe with beacon-enabled mode in ISA100.11a Wireless Industrial Networks environment. Maximum length of time slot is added in the superframe to reduce the overhead, and deadline monotonic scheduling approach is proposed to analyze the system scenario. The simulation results indicate that our proposed method required less numbe...
متن کاملA discrete-event optimization framework for mixed-speed train timetabling problem
Railway scheduling is a complex task of rail operators that involves the generation of a conflict-free train timetable. This paper presents a discrete-event simulation-based optimization approach for solving the train timetabling problem to minimize total weighted unplanned stop time in a hybrid single and double track railway networks. The designed simulation model is used as a platform for ge...
